The Passion to Experience
Twenty years ago it was a pilot exploration program for market entry. Today it is a commercial venture — built on the same spirit of discovery, but with professional rigour. The goal has always been broader than trade. It is about navigating the unknown, shaping cultural resonance, and building lasting business where others see only distance.
AMSTPOLDER is the long-term partner for Dutch and European DJs who want to build a career in China's live market.
AMSTPOLDER is new to working with European DJs, but the commercial logic, experience and networks behind it have been built over twenty years.
We do three things:
- Communication — we build your presence in the China market.
- Execution — we handle your releases, campaigns and shows.
- Management — we represent you in negotiations and manage your commercial interests.
The company is new. The idea behind it is twenty years old.
01 · Brand Story
The China Project, 2005–2011
It began at Hanze University of Applied Sciences in Groningen. As the initiator, together with my Dutch and German classmates and our supervisor, we built something we simply called the China Project.
Its slogan — The Passion to Experience — was not a marketing line. It was the reason the project existed.
The question behind it was a practical one: how do you identify real demands in China, reach the right customers, negotiate effectively, and build a cross-border team that eliminates cultural friction — not just talks about it?
We decided to answer these questions not with a consultant's report, but by building a working team of European and Chinese students — one that would operate inside the Chinese market, not study it from the outside.
Dutch, German and French students prepared for months together with Chinese students, and then worked on one shared assignment: helping a Dutch SME take its first real steps into the Chinese market.
We started preparing in 2005. From 2006 onwards we worked with the Law School of Nankai University in Tianjin, and we continued until 2011. Each year around 25 European students took part, and each year four to five Dutch companies went through the programme. The students conducted ground-level research and market mapping, and represented Dutch clients in discussions with Chinese counterparts on cooperation frameworks. The companies received something that is difficult to buy: an honest, on-the-ground view of a market they did not yet understand and the deals with potential clients.
We planned in detail, but we also embraced a spirit of discovery — navigating through countless uncertainties and solving unknown challenges along the way. Like the navigators we liked to compare ourselves to, we could not see what lay ahead — we only knew we wanted to figure it out. That was enough to keep moving.
The programme became one of the most sought-after signature projects at the university. Looking back, it was also our first serious training in cross-border work.
02 · Twenty years later
Same instinct, now with a structure
After graduating, I returned to China and have since worked across finance and industry — advising companies on M&A, listings, and corporate strategy, especially including financing and advisory for live music festivals.
On the industrial side, I participate in manufacturing operations that produce 6N high-purity graphite (a critical raw material for AI data centre infrastructure) and electric motorcycles.
Through all those years, the Spirit of DISCOVERY never left me. It was never about nostalgia — it was about forward motion, about exploring the unknown, and about commercializing it.
Over time, I became convinced that this spirit deserves more than just a university project. It deserves a business-minded approach — but just as importantly, it deserves professional execution, a clear focus on return on investment, a team that works across borders, and a long-term commitment to those we partner with. All backed by twenty years of experience, networks built across two continents, and the strategic use of AI tools to navigate a market that moves faster than ever.
That conviction led to the creation of AMSTPOLDER.
Now put to work for artists instead of SMEs.
03 · Who We Are
Who We Are
AMSTPOLDER is a communication and artist management company with a pilot exploration spirit.
We help Dutch and European DJs enter and grow in the Chinese market.
In practice, that means three things:
Communication
- We localize your artist identity for the Chinese market — language, messaging, visual presentation, and cultural positioning.
- We develop and execute content strategies to engage your fan base across Chinese platforms.
- We manage your public relations, media outreach, and brand communications.
Execution
- We plan and deliver releases, campaigns, and live shows — from concept to on-ground production.
- We manage tour logistics, event operations, and promotional activities.
- We secure brand collaborations and develop commercial partnerships.
- We ensure every campaign is executed with precision, consistency, and measurable outcomes.
Management
- We represent you in negotiations with promoters, venues, brands, streaming platforms, and licensing partners.
- We secure and manage your music publishing and distribution rights across Chinese streaming platforms.
- We manage your fan assets and develop engagement-driven revenue models — including merchandise, derivative products, and fan economy strategies.
- We manage your royalties, protect your commercial interests, and provide strategic advisory on financing, investment, and long-term career development in the region.
- We build and maintain strategic partnerships with Chinese industry stakeholders to ensure sustained growth.
Who we work with
We work with two types of partners:
- 1.DJs — the artists themselves, with a distinct sound and a growing following —
- 2.Their brokerage and booking agencies, the professional intermediaries who manage the artists' careers in their home markets but lack the structure, network, and practical experience to enter China.
Both are equally important to our model.
Our position
We are a partner throughout the journey — from first introduction to sustained presence. Our role is to make sure your music, your brand, and your business are handled professionally in a market with sustained growth.
04 · Where this is going
The bridge between two scenes
Our ambition is straightforward: to become the leading electronic music brokerage platform between Europe and China. A place where European artists and Chinese promoters, venues and brands can find each other, understand each other, and do business without guessing.
Three steps take us there. Presence — every artist on our roster is positioned on the Chinese platforms where that audience actually is. Shows — from a first club night to a repeatable circuit across 17 cities and 40+ partner venues and promoters. Platform — one place where Chinese promoters, venues and brands can book European artists directly, with terms, promotion and settlement already handled.
China's live market is vast — and we have been preparing for this for twenty years.
05 · Our Vision
What we are building
The brokerage platform is the first layer. What we are building on top of it is a pioneering cross-border artist-asset platform for European and Chinese electronic music artists — managing the value an artist creates (rights, releases, fan economy) the way an asset manager would, but built for music, not for finance. We partner with innovative, exploration-oriented electronic music creators, empowering them to achieve sustainable commercial development in cross-border markets. Leveraging blockchain-based digital rights management, artist token issuance mechanisms, tokenomics-powered fan brokerage systems, and interactive community operation models, we facilitate value co-creation and value sharing between artists and their fan communities. (All business operations are strictly implemented in full compliance with the regulatory requirements and legal provisions of relevant jurisdictions.)
That is AMSTPOLDER. That is The Passion to Experience — now, navigate towards a commercial reality.
